Show Me the Money: How Financial Transparency Really Works at VCS

(Explains Article 4: Financial Management and Fiscal Sponsorship)

How We Handle Your Money: Funds raised for your project are deposited into a dedicated Partner Fund. This is tracked separately in our systems and reported transparently on Open Collective.

What You Can Do:

  • Accept donations and grants via VCS Academy.
  • Raise revenue through events or sales (with approval).

Open Collective = Radical Transparency Each partner gets a public-facing page that logs:

  • Incoming donations
  • Outgoing expenses
  • Available balance

What About Fees? We deduct a modest admin fee (usually 5%). This covers:

  • Donation processing
  • Legal compliance
  • Platform maintenance

Tax Implications: As a CIC (not a registered charity), most donations are not tax-deductible. We work with you to ensure donors understand this upfront.

Security & Oversight: We don’t touch your funds unless:

  • You request disbursement with proper receipts.
  • Costs are incurred on your behalf (e.g., platform fees).

We handle your money like a fiduciary. Transparency isn’t a buzzword here—it’s the foundation of every partnership we build.
