Identify training needs
The training cycle below is a model or framework for how to plan, implement and evaluate training in a systematic way. This cycle helps trainers identify the sequence or steps they need to take when training people.  Key steps are:
- Identify training needs
- Design and planning of the training
- Delivery of training
- Assessment
- Evaluation
Identify the training needs
Identifying training needs involves gathering information from several sources, the main ones being:
- Organisational records, e.g. performance appraisal
- Interviews with managers, staff or volunteers.
The aim of training needs analysis is to fill that gap. The gap can be measured as shown in the diagram below:
